POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive annual giving program among The Family Tree’s constituencies. The Manager will work closely with the Development Director, Executive Director, and the Board of Directors to provide outreach, activities and events to attain and maintain a robust annual giving program to support the organization’s operating budget. Also, this position will assist with Board and volunteer support, with special events, and as a United Way liaison.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set and achieve annual fundraising goals, objectives, budgets and plans for the organization’s annual fund including the cultivation and solicitation of Board members, individuals, corporations, and organizations.
  •  Devise and implement a donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship program involving electronic and social media vehicles, traditional mail, phone, tours and events, and volunteer engagement.
  •  Manage the organization’s relationship with its direct mail vendor to carry out annual solicitations of $500 and less
  •  Manage a prospect pool with annual goals for personal visits and giving outcomes.
  •  Responsible for managing content and pulling reports from donor database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Develop vehicles to strengthen connections between TFT and its donors, including but not limited to a regular annual report, e-newsletter, and enhanced electronic and social media communications
  • Write all donor appeals and provide organization, production, and maintenance of annual fund campaign material and data.
  • Develop and actively market recurring giving options – with a focus on monthly contributions – to all annual fund constituencies, as well as an EFT staff giving campaign.
  • Reconcile donor record with the general ledger monthly.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization at events and presentations as needed.
  • Assist with major gift prospect research.
  • Serve as liaison with United Way and managed internal campaign.
  • Assist the Director of Development in identifying and cultivating annual fund and major gift prospects
  • Attend Staff, Development Committee and Departmental meetings.
  • Attend Board of Directors and other Committees of the Board as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION:

ï‚· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 EXPERIENCE: Significant development experience (minimum 3 years) working in annual fund. Experience and ability in motivating and mobilizing volunteers, staff and board.

SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational, administration, telephone and interpersonal communication skills, detail and "big picture" orientated.
  • Strong word processing skills and data management experience with Raiser’s Edge (or similar CRM software system), Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Solid writing, editing and presentation ability.
  • Professional demeanor, flexible and able to respond to multiple demands.
  • Able and willing to take responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of fund development principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage volunteers and donors.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Must be prepared to travel to various program sites, and various communities.
  • Possession of a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMAND: Relatively little physical effort on a day to day basis is required. Ability to lift 25 pounds for the occasional need.

MENTAL DEMAND: Use of acquired knowledge and experience, problem solving skills, organizational skills, judgment and tact. Must be able to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment despite distractions and interruptions.

WORK WITH OTHERS: Has contact with Board Members, volunteers, and elected officials. Requires a cooperative and courteous attitude, as well as excellent phone and communication skills.
